1. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (Rated G)

This is Halloween treat is the classic film that we all grew up with and loved.  Your kids will also love this tale of believing in yourself, overcoming failure, and having hope that everything will eventually turn out okay.  Will the Great Pumpkin arrive?  Will Charlie Brown every get candy rather than rocks?  Will Snoopy defeat the Red Baron?  You think you know, but you’ll enjoy watching this Halloween tale with the kids over and over again to find out what happens for sure.

2. Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie (Rated G)

Pooh and all of his friends are ready for a night of trick-or-treating fun in the Hundred Acre Woods, but they must beware the Gobloon who haunts the woods and will turn them into pumpkins if he catches them out on Halloween night.  However, there’s a twist, if they can fool the Gobloon and turn the tables on him, they will each get to make a special Halloween wish.  This film teaches children to not be afraid and to face your fears in an adorable and fun way.

3. The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (Rated G)

This DVD comes with two great classic Disney tales that will enchant your children just as they have for more than fifty years.  The Adventures of Ichabod is the classic retelling of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.  Ichabod tries to outrun the headless horseman as he tries to win the affections of his unrequited love Katrina.  Bing Crosby narrates and sings throughout this creepy tale of how not to lose your head.  The accompanying movie, Mr. Toad, is the story of The Wind in the Willows which follows J. Thaddeus Toad and his friends as they get into trouble and must find their way out without getting hurt.  Both films are great for Halloween or any time of the year.

4. Halloweentown, Halloweentown II, and Halloweentown High (Rated G)

This trilogy of Disney Channel movies tells the story of a family of witches who work together to fight the forces of evil.  Set in an alternative world of witches, ghosts, and werewolves where everyday is Halloween, these movies are fun and entertaining for the whole family.  Sort of like a Harry Potter for smaller kids, these movies deal with the issues of working together as they travel between the real world and the magical world in order to overcome problems, prejudice, and adversity.

5. Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Halloween (Rated G)

Fans of Dora the Explorer will love this collection of four fun-filled episodes, however only the first two are actually Halloween related.  In “Boo,” Dora and Boots help a little monster find his way home before the clock strikes midnight.  It’s great for teaching smaller kids who might be afraid of monsters that there are good monsters out there too.  In “The Missing Piece,” Dora and Boots help a wizard find his lost magic wand so he can conjure up magic once again.  These are your typical Dora Explorer adventures that your kids will want to watch over and over again on Halloween and throughout the year.
